Monday
1. Opener Video: How to write and name ionic compounds with polyatomic ions
3. Practice: Ionic compounds containing polyatomic ions pg 5-6
1. Opener Video: How to Write the Formula for Ionic Compounds with Polyatomic Ions
2. Practice: Writing formulas with Polyatomic Ions (fill in the chart)
Wednesday
- Opener Video #1 (Use this one) Naming Ionic Compounds with Roman Numerals!
- Opener Video: Naming Ionic Compounds with Transition Metals Introduction
- Naming and Formula notes See Slides # 19 and 20
- Show How to use (roman numerals) etc
- Name the metal seen on the periodic table
- Check to see if the metal has more than one charge (if yes go to the next step)
- Check which charge is being used by doing backcross with formula
- Determine charge for metal then use Roman numeral in parenthesis ( ) to indicate charge being used.
- Then write the name of the Non-metal changing the Ending to -ide
Example FeI3 = Iron (III) Iodide
Example Cu2O = Copper (I) Oxide
3. Fill in the blank periodic table with the transition metals with more than one charge.
